The New York University women's swimming and diving team ended competition at the Phoenix Fall Classic on Sunday, November 23, in Chicago IL.
Currently ranked
second in the nation, the Violets dominated the weekend, ending in first place with 2,779.5 points. Washington University in St.Louis took second, scoring 1,940.5 points.
Two Violets broke school records as NYU ended the weekend on a high note.
Kaley McIntyre delivered a historic swim in the 100-yard freestyle. Her time of 48.13 broke both the NCAA Division III and NYU records that she previously set at the 2025 NCAA Championships. She took first place and notched an NCAA "A" cut.
Also breaking an NYU record was
Sammy Wong (2:17.56), who earned second place and an NCAA "Q" cut in the 200-yard breaststroke.
In the 200-yard butterfly, the Violets swept the top three spots.
Nicole Ranile (1:59.38), secured first place while
Reina Gomez (2:02.31) and
Lina Wordelman (2:04.10) finished in second and third, respectively. Ranile and Gomez notched NCAA "Q" cuts as Wordelman earned a "B" cut.
Sarah Pierson (2:01.23) and
Eloise Emig (2:02.37) placed second and third, respectively in the 200-yard backstroke. Pierson secured an NCAA "Q" cut while Emig earned a "B" cut.
Rounding out the weekend with a first-place finish was the 400-yard medley relay.
Lian Jeong Engle, McIntyre,
Maeve O'Donnell, and
Llew Ladomirak earned an NCAA "Q" cut, clocking in at 3:19.94.
"Our women were locked in from the first session and kept raising the level all weekend," said Head Coach
Trevor Miele. "It was a complete team effort from start to finish."
Meera Kasturi was the top NYU performer on the three-meter diving board, collecting 449.6 points and placing third.
"It was a good weekend for diving," said Head Diving Coach
Todd Kolean. "Meera had a great three-meter meet and competed well against the University of Chicago."
The Violets return to the pool on Friday, December 5, for the dive-only Go Red Invitational hosted by RPI in Troy, NY. Competition is set to start at 10 a.m. The next day, both swimming and diving compete in the tri-meet hosted by NYU at the Palladium Athletic Facility. Diving begins at 10 a.m. with swimming to follow at 1 p.m.
