TCNJ Invitational Results
The New York University men's track & field team opened its 2020 campaign with competition at the The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) Season Opener, which was held at the 168th Street Armory in Manhattan on Saturday, January 11. This meet had no team scoring.
The Violets had a strong start to their season with multiple top-10 finishes.
Julian Montilus (Mendham, NJ/West Morris Mendham) had the best result of the night for NYU, taking second place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.45.
David Obwaya (Blaine, MN/Blaine) (8.71) finished fifth in the same event.
In the 500-meter dash
Brett Asay (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) (1:07.26),
Jon Diaz (Brookline, MA/Brookline) (1:08.4) and
Daniel Devine (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) (1:11.13) placed third, fifth and seventh, respectively.
To finish off the meet,
Landon Edwards (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) (1.76m) and
Matthew Edelman (Westlake Village, NY/Westlake) (6.01m) had a pair of fourth-place finishes in the high jump and long jump, respectively.
"This was a good start to the season," said Head Coach
Erison Hurtault. "But, we are looking to get better and better and improve week after week."
The Violets return to the track next Friday, January 17, to compete in the Ramapo College Season Opener, also at the Armory.
