NYC DIII Results
The New York University men's track & field team competed at two meets on Friday, January 31: the Metropolitan Championships, held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY; and the NYC DIII Invitational, at the Armory in Manhattan.
At the Metropolitan Championships, which included Division I and III schools from the greater New York metropolitan area, NYU's top performer was junior
Jonathan Sussman (Ellicott City, MD/Wilde Lake). He ran a personal-best 8:50.31 in the 3,000m and finished fourth overall.
In the distance medley relay, NYU's squad of senior
Yuji Cusick (Hinsdale, IL/Hinsdale Central), freshman
Josh Holtzman (Glen Allen, VA/Glen Allen) and juniors
Oliver Jacob (Marblehead, MA/Marblehead) and
Samuel Klein (Brookline, MA/Brookline) placed sixth (11:28.83).
Sophomore
Landon Edwards (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) was the top Violet finisher in the field events, placing seventh in the high jump (1.89m).
Overall, the Violets totaled 10 points and finished in 15th place.
Meanwhile, at the Armory, freshman
Kamden Martin (Canonsburg, PA/Canon McMillan) brought NYU its top finish of the day, as he finished runner-up in the 60m in 7.09. Other highlights included the 1-2 senior punch of
Ben Karam (New York, NY/Xavier) and
Jack Lillian (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley), who placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 3,000m (8:36.68, 8:37.46).
The Violets return to action at the University of Albany Invitational next Friday, February 7, which will take place at Ocean Breeze.
