The New York University men's track & field team returned to action at the Ramapo Invitational, hosted by Ramapo College at the Armory in Manhattan on Friday, January 17.
Notable performances on the oval for the Violets included freshman
Jon Diaz's (Brookline, MA/Brookline) second-place finish in the 1,000m, as he crossed the line in 2:32.23. Freshman
Aidan Katson (San Marcos, CA/San Marcos) finished seventh in the same race (2:39.20).
Senior
Julian Montilus (Mendham, NJ/West Morris Mendham) also performed well Friday, finishing third in the 60m hurdles (8.48) and fifth in the 200m (22.79). He also helped the 4x400m relay to a fifth-place performance in 3:28.84, along with Diaz, sophomore
Brett Asay (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) and freshman
Daniel Devine (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge).
Junior
Cam Goldstone (Tahoe City, CA/North Tahoe) finished fifth in the 5,000m in a personal-best 15:39.01.
In the field events, sophomore
Landon Edwards (Lake Forest, IL/Lake Forest) finished third in the high-jump, clearing 1.85m. Meanwhile, in the shot put, sophomores
Owen Mountford (Mountain View, CA/Mountain View ) and
Michael Mangual (Hoboken, NJ/St. Peter's Prep) placed fourth and fifth, respectively, with marks of 13.09m and 12.76m.
"A lot of good performances. It's a good second meet for us," Head Coach
Erison Hurtault said. "Nothing incredibly outstanding, but very solid performances indicative of good progress."
There was no team scoring at the event.
The Violets return to action next Friday, January 24, when they head to Boston University in Boston, MA, for the Terrier Classic.
