Fred Pavlich Invitational Results
The New York University women's cross country team posted a second-place finish at the Fred Pavlich Invitational, which was hosted by Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY, on Saturday, September 21.
The Violets posted a team score of 58 points, trailing only Vassar College (28) in the 18-team competition.
A pair of NYU runners Violets finished second and third individually over the 6k course.
Siena Moran (Princeton, NJ/Princeton), NYU's #1 runner so far this season, placed second overall in a field of 160 with a time of 23:17.9. She was immediately followed in third place by teammate
Leah Haley (Windsor, CA/Montgomery) (24:05.9).
"Those two have been rising to the challenge every week. The competition gets tougher and they get tougher and so does the team," said Head Coach
Erison Hurtault.
Milly Ames (Chapel Hill, NC/Chapel Hill) was next up for NYU, placing 12th in a time of 24:48.1.
The Violets other two scorers were
Gabrielle Stankosh (Somerset, NJ/Bishop George) and
Kate Gallagher (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park), who finished 21st (25:33.6) and 22nd (25:35.2), respectively.
"We finished strong and that's a good sign," Hurtault added. "Vassar is ranked in the region and they are one of our targets to compete well against. Today's performance is indicative of what we're capable of."
Next up for NYU is the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, PA, on Saturday, October 5.
