The #4-ranked New York University women's cross country team finished in second place at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship hosted by Brandeis University in Attleboro, MA, on Saturday, November 2.
After securing the UAA Championship for the first time in program history last season, the defending Violets fell to the #11-ranked University of Chicago Maroons. The Violets totaled 60 points in the eight-team, six-kilometer competition.
Finishing first for the Violets and third overall was junior Janie Cooper with a time of 21:21.6.
Cooper was followed by Josephine Dziedic in eighth place with a time of 21:41.9.
Kate Cohran finished in 21:46.4 to take 11th place.
Lucy Gott and Katherine Cheng finished off the Violets' top-five finishers and both notched personal bests. Gott took 13th with a time of 21:49.0 and Cheng crossed the line in 22:18.3 to take 25th place.
Emily Castles (22:25.8) and Stella Kutner (22:33.5) also posted new personal bests with their 28th- and 35th-place finishes, respectively.
The Violets are back in action on Saturday, November 16, when they travel to Fredonia, NY, to compete in the NCAA Niagara Region Championship.
