Ramapo Season Opener Official Results (PDF)
Freshman
Siena Moran (Princeton, NJ/Princeton) crossed the finish line in first place and the New York University women's cross country team captured the Ramapo College Season Opener, which was held at Deer Path Park in Flemington, NJ, on Friday, August 30.
Moran's time of 20:09.56 over the 5k course led the field of 88 runners. Classmates
Leah Haley (Windsor, CA/Montgomery) (third place, 20:32.83) and
Julia Mao (Windsor, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro ) (seventh place, 20:17) also had outstanding collegiate debuts.
Not to be outdone, returners
Gabrielle Stankosh (Somerset, NJ/Bishop George) (ninth place, 21:25.27) and
Anna Kaufman (Santa Rosa, CA/Windsor) (10th place, 21:29.35) also produced top-10 finishes.
"Great start for the team and a terrific debut for Siena," said Head Coach
Erison Hurtault. "I'm proud of her and the rest of the team."
The Violets finished with a total team score of 30 points. Stevens Institute of Technology (52 points) and host Ramapo (69 points) finished second and third, respectively.
"The runners competed hard and that's what I like to see at this point of the season," Hurtault added.
NYU returns to action next Saturday, September 7, at the Ron Stontisch Invitational hosted by Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY.
