2018 Lions' Kickoff Doubles Results
The New York University women's tennis team completed play at the Lions' Kickoff Tournament hosted by The College of New Jersey on Sunday, September 9, in Ewing, NJ.
Competing against TCNJ and the University of Sciences, the Violets finished with a 1-4 record in doubles play (1-3 vs. TCNJ, 0-1 vs. U. Sciences).
The Violets came close to securing a round one victory when
Kate Shaffer and
Ayesha Das (#3) took their opponents to the limit in an 8-7 (7-4) tiebreaker loss.
"We were happy to get some play in this weekend," said Head Coach
Horace Choy. "We mixed the doubles pairings up and we got some singles play in."
In the second round, Shaffer and Das earned NYU's only win of the day with an 8-5 victory over their opponents.
"The women had the opportunity to see what was working and what they need to work on as we build towards our regional tournament," concluded Choy.
The Violets will return to the courts for the Vassar Scramble on Saturday, September 15, at 11:00 am in Poughkeepsie, NY.
