Women's Tennis Drops 6-3 Match to Salisbury

Lisa Mijovic was one of three Violets to win her singles match.

Three Violets won their singles matches, but the New York University women's tennis team fell to Salisbury University 6-3 on Saturday afternoon in Salisbury, MD.

Sophomore Lena-Sophie Krups  notched the first win for the Violets with a straight-set defeat of her opponent in the #5 singles match before sophomore Lisa Mijovic followed suit and won 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 in the #4 match. After dropping the first set 1-6 to Kelly Fahrner, NYU sophomore Elizabeth Feldman rebounded to win her final two sets 6-3, 6-1.

Ranked #17 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Region, the Violets drop to 1-5 on the season, while Salisbury, ranked #6 regionally, improves to 2-0.

“We improved from last year,” noted head coach Horace Choy, “but we still need to get better.”

NYU competes in the Middlebury College Invitational next weekend, facing Connecticut College on March 13 and Middlebury College and Brandeis University on March 14.
