New York University junior co-captain Andrew Stanco was honored as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Fencing Athlete of the Week on Nov. 17.

In the opening week of competition, Stanco led the Violets with two strong performances. On Tuesday, he finished 2-1 in the Violets' dual-match competition against Stevens Institute of Technology and helped NYU post a 15-12 victory.

Stanco also tied for third place in epee competition at the Temple University Collegiate Open on Sunday, which was the highest finish for any team member.

The NYU men's fencing team will be back in action on Dec. 6 at the Vassar College Invitational in Poughkeepsie, NY.
