Women's Volleyball Adds Angel Agu as Assistant Coach

Becomes First Full-Time Assistant in Program History

In an historic hire, Angel Agu has been added as the first full-time assistant in New York University women's volleyball history.

Entering NYU with a wealth of collegiate coaching experience, Agu joins a program that has made the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament five consecutive years under Head Coach Andrew Brown, including consecutive Final Four appearances in 2023 and 2024.

"Adding our first full-time assistant coach is a defining milestone for NYU Volleyball, and I couldn't imagine a better coach and person to begin this chapter with than Angel Agu," Brown said. "She brings exceptional Division I knowledge and leadership to our program. Angel's ability to motivate, elevate, and inspire those around her will be felt from day one."

Agu spent the last two seasons as the Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator at Columbia University following three seasons as Head Coach at the University of Rhode Island. She has also served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach at the University of Wisconsin and as a Graduate Assistant at LaSalle University.

All of those stops took place at NCAA Division I institutions.

A 2016 graduate of the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and minors in Biology and Women Gender Studies, Agu was a five-year member of the volleyball team and served on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). The Flyers won four Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament Championships and made four NCAA Division I Tournament appearances during her career, advancing to the Second Round each time.

A native of Dallas, TX, Agu resides in Long Beach, NY.
