Four student-athletes from New York University's women's volleyball team have been named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognizing their achievements both on the court and in the classroom.
Coco Barton,
Ava Launsbach,
Grace Nelson, and
Jessica Spierenburg were honored on the Academic All-America ballot.
Student-athletes who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have competed in at least 90 percent, or started at least 66 percent, of their team's games are eligible for Academic All-District selection.
In their senior season's, both Launsbach and Spierenburg played huge roles this year. Launsbach led the team in assists (682), and assists per set (6.37), while also finishing fifth in the University Athletic Association (UAA). Spierenburg was second in blocks (100.0) and points (273.0) on the team. She finished fourth in the UAA in hitting percentage (.285), and fifth in blocks.
Barton led the Violets in blocks (125.0), while also finishing in the top 30 in Division III for blocks and blocks per set (1.12). She finished second in the UAA for blocks, as well.
Nelson led the team in kills (272) and finished the ninth in the UAA. She also led the Violets and the UAA in service aces (62).
