Following the 2024-25 winter season, six New York University student-athletes received Academic All-America honors from the College Sports Communicators (CSC).
To be eligible to earn CSC All-America honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically, and must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. To be considered, the men's and women's basketball players must competed in 90 percent of the team's games played or must have started in at least 66 percent of the team's games. For the swimming and diving athletes, they must have competed in five competitions or finished top-eight at a conference meet.
The women's swimming and diving team had three members honored, as
Kaley McIntyre was named First Team Academic All-American, while
Isabel Oldham and
Nicole Ranile earned Second Team honors.
From the NYU women's basketball team,
Natalie Bruns was selected both CSC Academic All-America Team Member of the Year and First Team Academic All-American.
Belle Pellecchia earned Second Team honors.
For the men's basketball team,
Tristan How was selected Second Team Academic All-American.
McIntyre finished an incredible season by earning her second straight Academic All-America honor as well as winning NCAA Swimmer of the Year for the second consecutive season. Her time of 48.53 in the 100 freestyle broke her own NCAA DIII record. She also won national championships in the 50 freestyle and the 200 freestyle.
McIntyre, Oldham, and Ranile were also members of the NYU National Champion 800 freestyle relay which set a DIII record of 7:13:02.
Ranile also won the national title in the 200 butterfly on top of being runner-up in the 400 freestyle relay alongside Oldham and McIntyre.
Bruns adds to her stellar season, winning CSC Academic Academic All-America Team Member of the Year for the second year in a row, only the second person to receive that disticntion. A three-time All-Academic Team member, she also is a three-time University Athletic Association (UAA) Player of the Year and a two-time Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division III Player of the Year. Bruns also received the NCAA Elite 90 Award, given to the athlete with the highest GPA at the Final Four. She started all 31 games in 2024-25, set a program record for blocks in a season (98) and in a career (328), while finishing with 1,661 points (#6 all-time at NYU).
Pellecchia started all 31 games and averaged an impressive 14.6 points per game while shooting 58.8 percent from the field. Ranked #8 on NYU's all-time scoring list with 1,508 points, she led the team in steals (112) and was named UAA Defensive Player of the Year for an unprecedented fourth consecutive season.
How finished his graduate season helping to lead the Violets to the NCAA DIII Championship Game. He started all 31 games, and led NYU in scoring (14.8 ppg) and rebounding (9.9 rpg). How earned National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District IV Player of the Year, as well as NABC First Team All-America,
