New York University wrestler Cooper Pontelandolfo was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Wrestler of the Year on Tuesday, as announced in a release by the UAA. This is the third consecutive season the Marlton, New Jersey native has receive the award from the UAA.
The recognition caps off a historic Violets career for Pontelandolfo, who advanced to the 157lb weight class final at the NCAA National Championships for the first time.
Pontelandolfo is the only Violet to be named a four-time All-American; finishing in the top six at the National Championships his first two seasons, third place his junior year and National Runner-Up as a senior.
The standout senior carried a 34-0 record this season entering the National Championship, including a perfect run through the 157 weight class at the UAA Championships in February.
He joins his teammates Harrison Gordon, Vincenzo Napolitana, Hassan Khan, Nicky Bell, Trent Furman and Bennett Sonneborn on the All-UAA Team.
