The New York University golf teams wrapped up their first tournament of the spring season at the Jekyll Island Invitational on Sunday, March 23, at Jekyll Island, GA.
The women finished tied for seventh place out of 24 teams, shooting a +79 over the course of the weekend. The men completed the three day event in 18th out of 30 teams, shooting a +29 on the weekend. Both teams had a player in the top 20.
Naomi Tan was the star for the women's team once again, shooting a +3 on the final round to take her final tally to +12. She finished tied for 20th place overall. Tan struggled early in this round, but finished hot, birding her last two holes.
Kelly Jing also put in a solid performance, shooting a +5 on the day, and a +16 on the weekend. She landed tied for 28th place overall, and was the second top scorer for the Violets.
Tiya Chowdary finished the weekend strong, shooting eight strokes better than her previous best in round two. She finished the day +5 and +30 for the tournament.
Oscar Uribe led the way for the men, finishing his weekend with a +2. Over the three rounds, he finished at an even par, finishing tied for 15th place.
Kevin Kim also had a solid round, carding +3 on Sunday and +7 overall. He was the Violets' number two finisher, landing in 56th place.
Jomyuth Luangtana-anan finished his weekend with a bright spot, shooting +3 for the final round. He led the team today with two birdies.
The Violets will next hit the links at the Tim Brown Invitational, hosted by Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, on Saturday to Sunday, April 12-13.
