The New York University women's and men's golf teams opened their spring seasons at the Jekyll Island Invitational, hosted by Oglethorpe University, on Friday, March 20.
The nationally third-ranked women sit in fourth place after the opening round with a score of +17.
Sonia Hao led the Violets with an impressive round of 70 (2-under), placing second on the individual leaderboard. Jiayi Fu followed with a 77, while Inha Jun carded a 78.
Naomi Tan added an 80, and Tiya Chowdary rounded out the lineup with an 82.
On the men's side, the Violets sit in 29th place after the opening round with a score of +14.
Jomyuth Luangtana-anan led NYU with an even-par 72, while Qi (Steven) Liu followed with a 73.
Oscar Uribe carded a 74 and Kai Nam Ryan Leung rounded out the scoring with an 83. Bryan Zhao also competed for the Violets, finishing with an 84.
The nationally third-ranked women's team sits in 4th place out of 24 teams after the opening round with a score of +17, with three players among the top 50 individually.
On the men's side, the Violets sit tied for 29th place out of 29 teams after the opening round with a score of +14, with one player among the top 50 individually.
The Violets will next hit the links tomorrow for the second round of the Jekyll Invitational.
