The New York University men's swimming and diving team continued its participation in the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships on Friday, March 21.
With 29 events now completed over the first three days, the Violets are in fourth place having accumulated 190.5 points. They are 20.5 points behind third-place University of Chicago
.
The Violets qualified for four of the final heats on Friday evening at the Greensboro Aquatics Center.
The 200 medley relay team of Teddy McQuaid, Maksym Nechydyuk, Ajay Watanakun, and Greg Wehbe took fifth place with a time of 1:27.46 and earned All-America honors.
"Great performance by those guys," said Head Coach Trevor Miele.
McQuaid returned to the pool for the 100 backstroke and notched another All-America honor with a fifth-place finish in a time of 47.31.
"Teddy had a gutsy performance in the 100 back, moving up to fifth overall," Miele explained. "The way he attacked the race was exciting to watch, and I can't wait to see what he does in the 200 tomorrow."
Jaeden-Hans Yburan was the lone NYU swimmer in the 200 butterfly final, taking 14th overall (1:48.69) and securing Honorable Mention All-America status.
In the final event of the evening, the Violets' 800 freestyle relay team of Nechydyuk, Connor Vincent, Kevin Wu, and Pierce Downs took seventh place (6:33.82) as all four earned All-America honors.
"The 800 free relay battled hard to a solid seventh-place finish, pushing all the way to the wall," Miele said.
NYU will conclude competition at the championships on Saturday, with preliminaries at 10:00am and finals set for 6:00pm.
