The New York University men's swimming and diving team placed second in the 2025 University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships, accumulating 1586.5 points, less than a hundred points behind host Emory University, who won with 1682.
Competition wrapped up on Saturday, February 15, in Atlanta, GA.
This is the second year in a row that the Violets finished second.
Maksym Nechydyuk was named UAA Rookie of the Year based on his seven top-three finishes during the four-day competition.
Connor Vincent won the 1650-yard freestyle by over five seconds. Evan Jue came in third.
Pierce Downs placed first in the 100-yard freestyle, with Ajay Watanakun and Kevin Wu taking fourth and fifth, respectively.
Nechydyuk came in second place in the 200-yard breaststroke, and Victor Derani took fourth.
Leo Han finished fifth in the 200-yard butterfly.
The Violets' 400-yard freestyle relay team of Wu, Nechydyuk, Watanakun, and Downs earned third place, only .13 seconds behind the runner-up relay team.
"We had an incredible meet with outstanding swims across the board," said Head Swimming Coach Trevor Miele. "I couldn't be prouder of this team's attitude, effort, and determination."
The Violets return to home water for the NYU Invitational on February 21 and 22, and will end the season competing in the NCAA Championships March 19-22.
