The University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships continued for the New York University men's swimming and diving team on Thursday, February 13, hosted by Emory University in Atlanta, GA.
The Violets were in first place after the first day of competition, but now sit in third place with 568 points.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Ajay Watanakun, Pierce Downs, Derek Young, and Greg Wehbe placed third.
Connor Vincent placed second and Evan Jue came in seventh in the 500-yard freestyle.
Maksym Nechydyuk and Jaeden-Hans Yburan put up standout performances in the 200-yard individual medley, each earning personal bests and placing second and third, respectively.
"Max and Jaeden's times were well under the NCAA selection standard," said Head Swimming Coach Trevor Miele.
Watanakun and Wehbe placed second and third for the 50-yard freestyle. Watanakun's runner-up time of 20.11 broke the program's record from 2014-15.
The 400-yard medley relay team of Teddy McQuaid, Nechydyuk, Leo Han, and Downs placed third.
"It was a strong showing, and they finished well under the selection times," said Miele. "The guys raced well tonight and posted some impressive results. We had a lot of outstanding performances."
There were no men's diving events on Thursday.
Competition continues on Friday, February 14, and Saturday, February 15, at Emory University.
