Caroline Peper Named USBWA National Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Peper Earns National Honors Following Historical Performance

Caroline Peper of the #1-ranked New York University women's basketball team has been named the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) National Women's Basketball Player of the Week following her record-tying performance at the Dr. Betty Shabazz Tournament, hosted by Medgar Evers College.

In just 18 minutes played in the Violets' 115-42 victory over Colby-Sawyer on Saturday, Peper finished with 20 points (8-of-15 FG, 4-of-10 3FG), one rebound, two assists, one steal, and one block. In Sunday's Championship Game against the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the South Easton, MA native tied NYU program records with 41 points (14-of-28 FG, 2-of-2 FT, 11-of-23 3FG) and 11 three-pointers while also becoming the 20th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. She added two rebounds, four assists, and seven steals in the contest.

For the week, Peper averaged 30.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 4.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks, while shooting 51.2 percent (22-of-43) from the field, 100 percent (2-of-2) from the foul line and 45.5 percent (15-of-33) from behind the arc. For her efforts, Peper was also selected Tournament MVP and University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week in becoming the first NYU women's player to earn USBWA National Player of the Week honors. NYU's victory on Sunday was its 69th straight, now the second-longest winning streak in NCAA Division III women's basketball history.
