On a day when the New York University women's basketball team celebrated its 2024-25 National Championship, the Violets defeated SUNY New Paltz 99-37 on Saturday, November 22, at the John A. Paulson Center in Manhattan.
The
top-ranked Violets (4-0) never trailed in posting their nation-leading 66th straight victory, the third-longest streak in NCAA Division III history.
NYU got off to a quick 4-0 lead and was ahead 20-11 after the first quarter.
The Violets' lead continued to increase, and they left the floor at halftime up 56-21.
Caroline Peper, who finished with a game-high 25 points, had 22 in the opening 20 minutes.
NYU led 74-28 after the third quarter.
Brooke Batchelor registered a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds while adding a team-high five assists.
Olivia Lagao (16) and
Aila Kaibara (11) also scored in double figures for the Violets.
Peper filled up the stat sheet by adding three rebounds, three assists, seven steals, and two blocks.
"This was a team win. I don't look at my points or anything," Peper said. "We shut them down early, and I think that was important."
Eden Williamson totaled a career-high eight steals as the Violets forced 40 New Paltz turnovers..
NYU has scored at least 99 points in each of their four games.
The Violets are back in action on Monday, November 24, when they host John Jay College at 6:00pm back at the Paulson Center.
