The New York University men's golf team opened play at the Liberty League Championship on Friday at Turning Stone Resort's Shenendoah Course in Verona, NY. .

The Violets are in first place out of seven teams after carding a team score of eight-under par, and four Violets sit inside the top 10 individually after day one

Oscar Uribe led the way for NYU with a five-under 67, the lowest round of the day among 35 competitors, while Jomyuth Luangtana-anan followed with a three-under 69 to sit tied for second.

Qi (Steven) Liu and Tanmay Chandra each finished at even-par 72 and are tied for eighth to round out the Violets' scoring lineup, while George Zhou posted a four-over 76.

NYU holds a strong lead heading into the second round, with Skidmore in second at three-over.

The Violets will return to action on Saturday at 12 p.m. for the second round of the Liberty League Championship.
