The top-ranked New York University women's cross country team competed in two different races at the Connecticut College Invitational, which was held in Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, CT, on Saturday, October 18.
The Violets are currently
#1 in the latest USTFCCCA Coaches Poll.
To begin the day, the Violets finished fifth in the 6k White Race with a total of 153 points.
Williams College won the 33-team race with 20 points.
Paisley Piepgras was first across the tape for the Violets, taking sixth place in a time of 22:33.3.
Next to cross the line for NYU was
Isabel Liu in 15th place (22:55.8).Her sister
Sophie Liu took 30th place (23:08.4).
Also scoring for the Violets were
Rina Kurihara (43rd place, 23:30.4) and
Kate Carnes (69th, 23:52.0).
Overall, 342 runners competed.
Next up for the Violets was the 6k Blue Blue Race, in which NYU finished fifth again with 179 points.
Josephine Dziedzic was the top finisher for the Violets, as she crossed the line in third place with a time of 20:43.8.
Lucy Gott and
Daniela Sekhar were the second and third finishers for the Violets. Gott finished 25th with a time of 21:27.4 and Sekhar was 28th with a time of 21:32.1.
Emily Castles (50th, 22:00.3) and
Lindsay Guthrie (79th, 22:29.6) also scored for NYU.
Overall, 261 runners competed
The Violets return to the course on Saturday, November 1, for the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship in Edwardsville, IL.
