The New York University women's cross country team was victorious at the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship on Saturday, November 22 at Milliken Park in Spartanburg, SC.
The national championship is the first in women's program history after placing second at the 2023 event.
"The women were unbelievably steady today," said Head Coach Tyler Deck Shipley. "I think we knew that if we could get the pieces together on November 22nd, that we were going to be really, really hard to beat. Huge credit to the women throughout the year for their trust in doing the right things and knowing that it was going to be a really messy process.
"To come here today with all of their friends, families and teammates who they've inspired to be here because they care so deeply about something and come through in a big way, we are unbelievably proud of them," Deck Shipley added.
The Violets held steady at the front of the pack for the entirety of the 6k race. The team sat in second at the halfway point, but pushed ahead at the 4k mark and did not look back.
Grace Rowley led the field for NYU, making a massive push to pass 59 runners in the second 1,000 meters. Her time of 21:20.0 landed her in eighth place overall and earned All-American status.
Janie Cooper kept pace with the sprint out of the gate and continued to climb as high as 8th, closing out in 10th with a time of 21:23.0.
Just behind Cooper, Josephine Dziedzic took eleventh with a 21:23.9 time.
Despite a challenging final 2k, Ashlyn Pallotta took 29th place overall with a 21:44.4 time.
Stella Kuttner climbed steadily throughout the race to take the final scoring place for the Violets, 38th place overall, finishing in 21:59.4
Rowley, Cooper, Dziedzic, Pallotta and Kuttner all earned All-American honors for their top-40 finishes.
Daniela Sekhar (23:03.3) and Lucy Gott (23:15.7) rounded out the field for the NYU women.
This marks the first National Championship for the NYU women's cross country program after previously finishing as runner-up in 2023 and fourth place last season. The team completes the season as University Athletic Association (UAA) champion, NCAA Niagara Regional champion and NCAA Division III National Champion.
Along with the men's team's fourth place finish, the NYU teams combined for the best finish among all teams competing in both races on Saturday.
