The New York University men's cross country team,
ranked #18 in NCAA Division III, traveled to Poughkeepsie, NY, to compete in the Ron Stonitsch Invitational hosted by Vassar College on Saturday, September 14.
The Violets placed second of 11 teams in this six-kilometer event, compiling 67 points across their top five finishers. The host Vassar Brewers took first in the competition with 37 points.
Crossing the line first for the Violets was freshman
Micah Taffet in eighth place with a time of 20:04.7.
Shortly behind him, in 10th place, was
Jacob Christy in a time of 20:07.6.
Vito Alpeza and
Trey Davidson finished in 14th and 15th place, respectively, with Alpeza clocking 20:31.6 and Davidson coming in at 20:32.5.
Enrique Perez finished in 20:49.1 for the Violets to take 20th and
Christopher Lee ran 20:50.7 to take 22nd place in the 100-competitor event.
Sam Frank and
William Cornick each posted new personal bests. Frank finished in 21:29.0 to take 36th place while Cornick placed 37th with a time of 21:31.0.
The Violets are back in action on Saturday, September 21, when they travel to Indianpolis, IN, to compete in the John McNichols Invitational hosted by Indiana State University.
