The New York University men's cross country team,
ranked #4 in the most recent USTFCCCA Coaches Poll, competed in two separate races at the Connecticut College Invitational, which was held in Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, CT, on Saturday, October 18.
To begin the day, the Violets competed in the 8k White Race.
In an extraordinarily tight finish, three teams (NYU, Tufts, Williams) all finished with 65 points. Due to tie-breaking procedures, Tufts took the top spot with NYU placing second and Williams finishing in third.
Overall, 37 teams and 364 runners competed.
Greg Borden was first across the tape for the Violets, taking fourth place in a time of 25:18.19. He was followed closely by
Luke Munoz in sixth place (25:23.06).
Elijah McCauley was next up for NYU, taking 13th place with a time of 25:36.73. Also scoring for the Violets were
Brandon Meiner (15th place, 25:41.66) and
Micah Taffet (31st, 25:58.54).
Next up for the Violets was the 8k Blue Blue Race, where the Violets finished fourth with 122 points.
Johns Hopkins won the 34-team race with 96 points.
Individually,
Liam Hagerty was tops for NYU in fourth place at 24:11.9.
Jeffrey Chen (15th place, 24:22.8) was another top-20 performer for NYU.
Huckleberry Oakes,
Alex Hrycysyzn and
Theodore Udelson-Nee were next up for NYU in 33rd, 34th, and 36th place with times of 24:43.3, 24:46.3 and 24:47.3, respectively.
A total of 264 runners competed.
The Violets return to the course on Saturday, November 1, for the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship in Edwardsville, IL.
