The New York University women's cross country team kicked off the 2024 season at the Vassar Season Opener in Poughkeepsie, NY, on Friday, August 30.
The
USTFCCCA #1-ranked Violets finished second in the race with 34 points, edged by host Vassar College with 30 points.
The top finisher for the Violets was
Grace Rowley, who took fourth place with a time of 10:59.6 over the 3k course.
NYU also captured the next three places as
Virginia Nelson (11:05.9),
Katherine Cheng (11:07.8) and
Stella Kuttner (11:08.3) finished fifth-seventh, respectively.
Cheng's time today was a 17-second improvement from her previous personal best in the event, which was set at the Vassar Season Starter in 2022.
Emily Castles notched 12th place and posted a new 3k personal best (11:17.3).
Lindsay Guthrie took 13th place in 11:18.0.
The Violets return to action when they travel back to Poughkeepsie, to compete in the Vassar College Invitational on Saturday, September 14.
