New York University's men's cross country team kicked off its 2024 season with a second-place finish at the Vassar Season Opener in Poughkeepsie, NY, on Friday, August 30.
The Violets' 54 points trailed only first-place Vassar College's 34.
Freshman
Asa Fletcher finished first for the Violets, taking seventh place overall with a time of 12:42.2 in the 4k event.
Julian Aske placed ninth and ran a personal-best time of 12:45.4.
Right behind in 10th place was
Huckleberry Oakes with a time of 12:46.4.
Vito Alpeza and
Luke Munoz finished 13th and 15th, respectively, clocking times of 12:52.0 and 12:59.9.
Rounding out the Violets top-seven competitors were
Micah Taffet (13:05.5) in 18th place and
Luke Munoz (13:05.7) in 19th.
The Violets return to action when they travel back to Poughkeepsie, NY, to compete in the Vassar College Invitational on Saturday, September 14.
