On Friday, May 10, 10 members of the New York University men's and women's track & field distance teams competed in the 5,000-meter run at the Williams College Farley Inter-Regional Extravaganza in Williamstown, MA.
Ryan Tobin set a new program record in the outdoor 5k with his fourth-place, 14:08.71 finish at today's event. Tobin surpassed Dylan Karten's time of 14:09.17 which was set in 2014.
In the women's section,
Katherine Cochran took ninth in the 33-competitor field with her time of 17:26.64.
Three Violets notched new personal bests today:
George Brady (14:15.96),
Alex Hrycysyzn (15:13.91) and
Josephine Dziedzic (17:40.18).
Janie Cooper took 19th for the women, with a time of 17:57.04 while
Daniela Sekhar and
Jessica Allen finished in 24th and 26th place, respectability. Sekhar crossed the line in 18:16.39 and Allen finished in 18:36.99.
Mubeen Zainul clocked 15:10.72 to take 25th and
Brandon Meiner finished with a time of 15:58.04 to take 41st in the men's section.
Members of the team are back in action on Monday, May 13, when they travel to Chester, PA, to compete in the Widener Final Qualifier ahead of the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships on May 16-17.
