The New York University men's and women's track and field teams opened competition at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships on Friday, March 13.
The event is being held March 13-14 at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Alabama. Seven Violet runners qualified for three different events over the weekend.
Katherine Cochran and
Josephine Dziedzic produced a three-four finish in the women's 5000 meter final. Cochran clocked in at 16:50.75, with Dziedzic finishing just 0.01 seconds behind. The two combined for 11 team points, good enough to put the Violets in 8th place after the first day.
Theodore Udelson-Nee earned bronze in the men's 5k, finishing third in 14:06.15. That was worth six points for the team, putting them in a tie for 10th place.
All three earned All-America honors with their performances.
Stella Kuttner posted the fifth-best time in the women's mile prelims, qualifying for the final with a 4:50.56 finish. On the men's side,
Liam Hagerty missed the final by just 0.02 seconds with a 4:13.13 time.
The Violets will finish out the meet on Saturday with the mile finals and the 3000m finals.
