The New York University men's and women's track and field teams began competition at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Championships, hosted by Brandeis University in Waltham, MA.
The men's side was led by Jeffrey Chen, who placed third in the 5000-meter race with a time of 14:53.23.
For the women, Emily Castles and Lindsay Guthrie were successful in the 5000-meter race, landing eighth and ninth place, respectively. Castles clocked a time of 17:43.07, while Guthrie finished in 17:47.34.
Additionally, Alexa McMillian placed in the top-10 of the women's long jump with a distance of 5.23 meters.
In another top-three finish for the Violets, the quartet of Katharine Frank, Gianna Dawson, Rina Kurihara, and Stella Kuttner recorded a time of 11:47.29 in the distance medley relay to come in third.
The preliminaries saw Tyler Burch qualify for tomorrow's finals of the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.04 seconds. Dawson qualified for the finals of the women's 800-meter dash with a time of 2:14.76.
NYU will round out the indoor championships in tomorrow session, which is set to begin at 10:00am.
