Track & Field Closes Out UAA Indoor Championships

11 Violets Score Points on Day Two

The New York University men's and women's track & field teams closed out the University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Championships on Sunday, March 1, in Waltham, MA. 

The men's team's most successful event of the weekend came in the one mile race, in which three runners scored points for the team. Liam Hagerty (4:12.15) led the way with a second place finish, followed by Theodore Udelson-Nee (4:12.25) and Huckleberry Oakes (4:13.96) in third and fifth place, respectively. 

Tyler Burch also added a point for the men in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.08 seconds. 

For the women, the 3000-meter race saw the Violets gain 18 points. Stella Kuttner (9:39.14) posted a second-place finish, while Katherine Cochran (9:44.72) and Janie Cooper (9:46.58) claimed third and fifth place, respectively. 

Additional scorers for the women in the track events included Gianna Dawson (2:18.96) coming in seventh in 800-meter race and Emily Castles (17.43.07) placing eighth in the 5000-meter race. 

In the field portion of Sunday's events, Amalia Hronides placed eighth in the women's high jump with a jump of 1.54 meters. 

Alexa McMillian recorded a second-place finish in the women's triple jump, coming in at 11.48 meters. 

The Violets will next travel to Medford, MA, to take part in a Last Chance Meet, hosted by Tufts University from Friday to Saturday, March 6-7.
