Members of the New York University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Monmouth University Season Opener in West Long Branch, NJ, on Friday and Saturday, March 29-30.
Emma Grunin secured a second-place finish in the javelin throw, surpassing her previous personal best with a top mark of 38.03m.
Grunin and Grant Callahan achieved new personal bests in the discus throw on Friday. Grunin marked 32.23m, while Callahan concluded competition with a top mark of 38.47m.
Callahan, alongside Daniel Lee, claimed personal bests in the hammer throw, marking 34.27m and 33.51m, respectively.
Kicking off Saturday's competition was William Cornick with a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter run, which earned him a new top time with his 1:59.92 finish.
Seneca Guneratne finished seventh in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at 12.56 while Kate Walsh surpassed her previous best in the event with a time of 13.20.
Travis Perry secured a ninth-place finish in the 100-meter dash while also setting a new personal best with his 11.00 finish.
Mackenzie Richard posted a new personal best of 1:08.23, placing ninth in the 400-meter hurdles.
In the 100-meter hurdles competition, Dasha Jackson and Nikhita Bolineni recorded new personal bests with times of 15.72 and 17.09, respectively. Jackson took ninth place in the event, while Bolineni finished in 18th.
Freshmen Lincoln Tutor and Cindy Leonard achieved new personal bests in the 200-meter dash. Tutor finished in 23.76 and Leonard in 27.32.
On the distance side, Sammie Seamon (4:52.13) and Samir Hussain (4:15.13) posted new top times in the 1,500-meter run, while Jessica Allen notched a new best in the 5k, with an 18:39.47 finish.
Justin Deng recorded a new personal best in the long jump with a top mark of 6.08m.
The Violets will return to action next Saturday, April 6, when they compete in the Metropolitan Championships at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island in New York City.
