New York University's men's and women's track & field teams completed action at the Emory Thrills in the Hills Open on Saturday, March 23, in Atlanta, GA.
Women's Highlights
Seneca Guneratne won the 100m prelims (12.58) before placing sixth in the finals with a personal-best time of 12.55 seconds.
In the 100m hurdles finals,
Dasha Jackson took second (15.08) and
Nikhita Bolineni (17.29) came in seventh.
Laila Goodman (1:03.83) and
Mackenzie Richard (1:05.45) were both in the top 10 of the women's 400m, finishing ninth and 10th, respectively.
The quartet of Goodman,
Areyanna McCarthy,
Cindy Leonard and
Beverly Okyere placed third in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:11.90.
In the field events,
Emma Grunin came in second in the javelin with a personal-best 37.43m throw. She also finished ninth in discus after a 30.34m toss.
McCarthy placed seventh in the triple jump thanks to a 10.67m leap on her first attempt.
Men's Highlights
Travis Perry nabbed third in the 100m prelims and went on to take 14th in finals with a time of 11.08 seconds.
Emmanuel Brito ran well in the 400m, coming in fifth out of 33 finishers as he completed the race in 49.97 seconds.
Perry, Brito,
Justin Lee and
Davis Flanagin combined to take eighth in the 4x400m relay as their time of 3:31.60 was nearly nine seconds faster than the ninth-place finisher.
Nishad Sankar (13.69m) finished second in the triple jump while
Isaac Tu was fifth (13.21m) and
Drew Boyce placed seventh (personal-best 12.73m).
Paul Ioffreda (33.37m) was 11th in the discus while
Grant Callahan (31.27m) came in 16th.
Kai Aravena notched fifth in the javelin (44.34m) to round out NYU's field performers.
The track & field teams continue the outdoor season with the Towson Invitational on Friday-Saturday, March 29-30, in Towson, MD.
