Men's Cross Country Wins UAA Championship

Violets Capture Fifth in Program History

New York University's #8-ranked men's cross country team captured their fifth-ever victory at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship, taking the title in Attleboro, MA, on Saturday, November 2.

The Violets totaled 34 points to best all eight teams in the eight-kilometer race.

Ryan Tobin crossed the line first for the Violets and second overall with a time of 24:24.8.

NYU's Evan Sherman and Liam Hagerty finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively. Sherman's time of 24:37.0 earned him a new personal best in the event while Hagerty clocked 24:38.5.

Jeffrey Chen took eighth with a time of 24:41.5 and Andrew Taylor rounded out the Violets' top-five finishers with a time of 24:47.0.

The Violets last took home the championship in 2009 and won their first three from 2006-2009. in 2007, they also captured the NCAA Division III Championship.

The team will be back in action when they travel to Fredonia, NY, to compete in the NCAA Niagara Region Championship on Saturday, November 16.
