The University Athletic Association (UAA) announced its All-UAA women's volleyball awards on Monday, November 18, and three members of NYU's squad were recognized.
Grace Nelson earned First Team honors, while both
Yooni Park and
Chloe Hynes earned Honorable Mention status. Additionally, Hynes was named the conference's Rookie of the Year.
Selected UAA Rookie of the Year last season, Nelson has had an impeccable sophomore campaign helping guide the Violets to their 21-12 record. She leads the team in kills (388), kills per set (3.23) and service aces (60).
Nelson ranks second in the UAA in both service aces and points (479.5), and is fourth overall in kills.
Park, who has earned UAA Athlete of the Week honors twice this season (9/2 and 10/7), leads the conference in digs (643) with a set average of 5.23.
Hynes has produced impressive numbers in the stat columns, totaling 277 kills, 58 digs, seven solo blocks, and 71 block assists. She ranks second on the team in kills and third in total blocks (78).
The Violets' season continues in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament his week when they travel to Cambridge, MA, to take on William Smith College in a first-round match-up. Hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), NYU plays at 4:30pm on Thursday, November 21.
