Men's Swim and Dive Open Home Season

Violets Play Host to NYU Fall Invitational

The New York University men's swimming and diving team hosted Drew University and Stevens University on Friday, November 1 at the Palladium Athletic Facility in New York, NY.

Ranked #5 in the nation, NYU showcased its strength by winning all five events.

The meet began with diving events, where the NYU divers delivered impressive performances.

In the 1-meter diving event, William Hopkins scored an impressive 446.10 points, placing second, while teammate Makai Harder followed closely with a third-place score of 437.40. Nolan Jennings contributed to the team's success with a solid fourth-place finish (372.45).

"I couldn't be happier with how NYU dove today. William Hopkins and Makai Harder scored on the men's side," said Head Diving Coach Todd Kolean. "This is the strongest start to a season we've ever had in the last 10 years. Everyone has worked hard over the last few weeks, and it showed today."

The swimming events followed, and the Violets posted some standout results.

Among the seniors, Connor Vincent led the Violets with a win in the 500-yard freestyle, showcasing his versatility with a time of 4:36.01. Fellow senior Jaeden-Hans Yburan clinched victory in the 200-yard individual medley, clocking in at 1:53.72. Yburan also recorded second place finishes in both the 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay.

Sophomores Stone Miller and Pierce Downs had a close finish in the 50-yard freestyle, with Miller taking first at 21.21 and Downs just behind with 21.41.

"The men's team showed great energy and competitiveness this evening," said Assistant Coach Connor Rumpit. "We are looking forward to continuing to race hard on day two."

NYU will be back in action on Saturday, November 2, for day two of the meet, which will feature events against Stevens, Drew, and Columbia University. Swimming sessions will be held at 10:00am and 4:00pm, with diving starting at 1:00pm at NYU's Palladium Athletic Facility.
