The New York University #7-ranked women's cross country team traveled to New London, CT, to compete in the Connecticut College Invitation on October 19.
The squad was split between two sections of the 6,000-meter event, the White Race and the Blue Race.
The squad in the Blue Race totaled 101 points to place second in the 37-team competition. Massachusetts Institute of Technology places first with 83 points.
Finishing first for the Violets in the 201-competitor race was Janie Cooper in second place, who crossed the line in 21:00.40 to post a new personal best.
Josephine Dziedzic also notched a new personal best in the event with her time of 21:32.40 to place 11th overall.
Kate Cochran clocked 21:43.60 to take 18th place.
Lucy Gott and Daniela Sekhar rounded out the last of NYU's top finishers, finishing in 29th and 42nd place, respectively. Both also set new personal bests with Gott finishing in 21:55.80 and Sekhar notching a 22:13.50 finish.
Olivia Jackson and Katherine Cheng also earned new personal bests in the Blue section with Jackson finishing with a time of 22:20.20 and Cheng finishing with a time of 22:31.70.
In the White section, five Violets achieved new personal-best times to tally 112 points and place fourth in the 25 team event.
In order of finish was Virginia Nelson in 10th place (22:37.40), Emily Castles in 12th place (22:42.60), Lindsay Guthrie in 17th place (23:03.60), Stella Kuttner in 36th place (23:32.50), and Rina Kurihara in 37th place (23:32.90).
The Violets are back in action on Saturday, November 2, when they travel to Attleboro, MA, to compete in the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship hosted by Brandeis University.
