New York University's #11-ranked men's cross country team competed in the Connecticut College Invitational hosted by Connecticut College in New London, CT, on Saturday, October 19.
The squad was split between two sections of the 8,000-meter competition, the White Race and the Blue Race.
The Violets were victorious in the Blue section of the event, posting 80 points in the 35-team, 8,000-meter event.
Finishing first for the Violets was Ryan Tobin with a time of 24:24.40 to take eighth overall.
Jeffrey Chen and Liam Hagerty finished in 12th and 13th place, respectively. Chen crossed the line in 24:35.60 and Hagerty posted a new personal best with his time of 24:36.10.
Evan Sherman also notched a new top time in today's event, finishing in 16th place with a time of 24:37.90.
Rounding out the Violets top-five finishers was Andrew Taylor, crossing the line in 24:51.60 to take 31st place.
Freshman Huckleberry Oakes set a new season best with his time of 25:49.00.
In the White section, eight Violets achieved new personal bests in the event. The team totaled 112 points to take fourth in the 22-team competition.
Those who set personal bests were Jake Chang (25:40.20), Trey Davidson (26:20.10), Luke Munoz (26:23.70), Sam Frank (26:31.80), Julian Aske (26:35.50), Micah Taffet (26:46.60), Enrique Perez (26:52.30), and William Cornick (27:08.10).
The Violets are back in action on Saturday, November 2, when they travel to Attleboro, MA, to compete in the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship hosted by Brandeis University.
