The New York University women's tennis team, represented by three players, continued play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cup, which is being held in Rome, GA, Thursday-Sunday, October 10-13.
Victoria Wang ended her ITA Cup campaign with a win over Ancele Dolensek of Carnegie Mellon University, 6-2, 6-4.
"Victoria has had a great fall and has shown a lot of promise," said Head Coach
Horace Choy. "She played a very solid match today and had a strong ITA Cup, finishing 2-1 in singles. It was a learning experience for when she returns in the future."
Wang and
Siona Vallabhaneni dropped their doubles contest, 6-3, 7-6.
Jimena Menendez pushed her opponent to three sets, but ultimately lost to Emory University's Izabele Antanavicius, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6.
"Jimena played an extremely competitive match that was almost three hours long," offered Choy." In the end, a bounce here and there decided it. I know that Jimena is disappointed in the result, but I'm so proud of how hard she fought and competed until the end. She showed a lot of heart and should be proud of repeating as an ITA All-American."
The Violets have now wrapped up the Fall portion of their schedule and will next take the court on Saturday, February 22, against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.
