The New York University women's tennis team, represented by three players, continued play at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cup, which is being held in Rome, GA, Thursday-Sunday, October 10-13.
After yesterday's win for
Jimena Menendez, the senior fell to Wesleyan University's Jacqueline Soloveychik, 6-3, 6-1.
"Jimena's opponent defended very well and forced some errors from her by trying to do too much," said Head Coach
Horace Choy. "There were a lot of close games where a point or two was the difference."
Victoria Wang, also coming off of a victory on Thursday, lost to the University of Chicago's Clara Zou, 6-1, 6-2.
"Victoria played a very solid player who didn't miss much," Choy explained. "Victoria tried to force the action but struggled to be consistently aggressive."
Wang then played with
Siona Vallabhaneni in the doubles consolation bracket, in which the pair was defeated, 6-2, 6-0.
Menendez is slated to face Izabele Antanavicius of Emory University on Saturday, while Wang will take on Ancele Dolensek of Carnegie Mellon University, both in the consolation bracket.
