The New York University men's and women's track & field teams concluded the second and final day of the Dr. Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge hosted by Columbia University on Saturday, January 27, at the Armory in Manhattan.
Emmanuel Brito took 23rd in the 43-competitor 400-meter dash field to post a new personal best of 50.75.
Freshman
Mariel Rocca topped her previous best mark of 10.29m in the triple jump leaping 10.64m to finish 26th.
Areyanna McCarthy (10.86m) and
Dasha Jackson (10.79m) posted 23rd and 25th, respectively.
Julian Aske, in his first performance on the track for the Violets, posted a 1:55.10 to take 21st of 40-competitors in the 800-meter run.
William Cornick crossed the line in 2:02.62.
Sticking with the distance squad,
Ryan Tobin (8:25.61) and
Jeffrey Chen (8:45.07) took 11th and 20th place, respectively, in the 3,000-meter run.
Grant Callahan threw 10.64m to notch a 31st-place finish in the shot put.
After two days of competition, neither the men's nor women's team scored. The University of Connecticut won the men's field with 125 points followed by host Columbia University with 80.5 points. On the women's side, Princeton University took first with 133 points followed by the University of Connecticut with 87 points.
The Violets are back in action next Friday, February 2, when they return to the Armory in Manhattan, to host the NYC DIII Invitational.
