"It was a good showing," Head Coach
Horace Choy said. "We have been working hard at practice and I was interested to see how they would perform. I thought Boren played particularly well winning both of his singles matches against good competition. Rumaish also stood out, winning all four matches he played in. All of our men competed well and I'm looking forward to next weekend."
The women's team won all six singles matches against the Bombers on Saturday with
Dakota Fordham,
Jimena Menendez,
Isabella Hartman,
Aditi Narayan,
Tess Heber, and
Ksenia Goel representing the Violets.
The squad also posted two wins in doubles with Menendez and Goel defeating Ithaca 8-2 and Heber and Narayan winning 8-1.
On Sunday,
Margaret Piatos,
Kendall Kamerschen,
Diana Pujals, and
Hannah Chang joined the Saturday lineup to record a total of nine victories out of 10 singles matches.
To finish off the tournament, the women's doubles teams triumphed in all five of their match-ups against the Lions.
Narayan paired up with Heber to win 8-6. Menendez and Goel won 8-5, Fordham and Hartman 8-0, Chang and Kamerschen 8-2, and Pujals and Piatos 8-1.
"We had a lot of solid performances from all of the women," said Choy. "We continue to show why we are one of the strongest teams in the country. We did struggle with consistent performances and hope to work that out before we compete again."
Next up for the men's team is the Haverford Invitational on September 23-24 in Haverford, PA.
The women will next take to the courts for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Championship from September 22-24 in Hamilton, NY.
