The New York University women's tennis team completed the Vassar Scramble on Sunday, September 10, in Poughkeepsie, NY, with 11 victories across the day's singles and doubles matches.
"It was a lot of tennis over two days and our women competed hard," Head Coach
Horace Choy said. "We had some good results. More importantly, it gave me a chance to see where everyone was in terms of match play. I look forward to another week of practice and more matches next weekend."
A total of 11 Violets competed in singles play with eight picking up wins.
Jimena Menendez,
Diana Pujals and
Aditi Narayan all triumphed 6-0 in their matches, the first two defeating SUNY New Paltz opponents while Narayan took down a Vassar College player.
Kendall Kamerschen,
Hannah Chang and
Nicole Wuelfing each won 6-1 in their match-ups with New Paltz.
Margaret Piatos rounded out NYU's singles victories, posting a 7-6 (3) win against a host Brewer.
Four doubles teams saw action as well.
Narayan teamed up with Kamerschen to win 6-3 against Vassar.
Menendez and
Molly Heber recorded a 6-4 victory against a Hamilton College duo, while
Dakota Fordham and
Isabella Hartman triumphed 6-1 over their Hamilton competitors.
The women's tennis squad will return to the courts for the Lions Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, September 16-17, hosted by The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ.
