New York University's golf teams began competition at the Jekyll Island Invitational in Jekyll Island, GA on Friday as the women are in eighth place after round one while the men are tied for 14th.
Emory University leads the men's tournament with a five-under 283 as a team. NYU shot 301 which is tied with Denison University and Piedmont University.
On the women's side, Pomona-Pitzer leads the pack with a score of 296. The Violets shot 314 and trail seventh-place WashU by six strokes.
Charles Hsieh shined for the men as he's tied for fourth individually with a two-under par 70.
Ethan Yang (t-36th) sits two over at 74,
Kevin Kim's 75 has him tied for 45th and
Ryan Leung's 10-over 82 is tied for 133rd to round out NYU's scorers.
There are 150 golfers and 30 teams competing on the men's side.
For the women,
Tiya Chowdary is tied for 12th individually with a three-over par 75.
Nalinda Wanikpun and
Irene Park both shot 79 and are tied for 36th while
Stephanie Su's 81 has her in a tie for 57th.
The women's tournament features 120 golfers and 24 teams.
Round two for both the men and women tees off at 1:00pm tomorrow.
