Grace Richardson Achieves 20-second PR to Capture 5k Record

Grace Richardson and Viv Kane of the New York University women's track & field team traveled to Boston, MA, on Saturday, December 2, to compete in the 5k at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener hosted by Boston University.

Richardson clocked 16:44.20 to place 10th in her heat of 30 and 107th in the 166-person field that included many Division I athletes. Her time today surpassed her previous personal best set at the Larry Ellis Invitational last spring where she ran a 17:04.86 in the 5k. Richardson also toppled the previous NYU indoor 5k record (17:04.70) set in 2011 by Maeve Evans with her performance today.

NYU outdoor-5k record holder Kane opened the 2023-24 season finishing the 5k in 18:06.25.

Both the men and women's track & field teams will be back in action for the Seahawk Shootout at the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Athletic Center on Staten Island, NY, on Friday, December 8.
