McMillian Takes Second at AARTFC Regionals

Freshman Resets NYU Triple Jump Record

The New York University men's and women's track and field team opened the postseason on Thursday, May 14 at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference Championships.

The regional championship meet was hosted by Ursinus College, May 13-14, in Collegeville, Penn.

Rookie Alexa McMillian was the lone Violet in action. She took second place in the women's triple jump final.

McMillian continued to build on a noteworthy freshman campaign by resetting the program record for the women's outdoor triple jump, hitting 12.00m on Thursday afternoon. She beat the mark she set at the UAA Outdoor Championships by 0.14m.

Her 12.00m jump matches the 14th-best mark of the outdoor season across all of NCAA Division III. The top 22 marks qualify for the NCAA National Championships.

The second-place finish earned NYU eight points at the meet as the lone Violet competing, good for 35th place out of 51 scoring teams.

Qualifying Violets head to Wisconsin for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, hosted May 21-23, on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
