NYU's women's golf team seems to have carried its recent momentum into the NCAA Championship as the Violets sit in a three-way tie for fourth place after round one at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, TX, on Tuesday.
Bay Oaks is a par-72, 5,866-yard course near the Gulf Coast and the Violets shot a 303 on the day, tying them for fourth place with UAA rival Carnegie Mellon University and Pomona-Pitzer.

Aliea Clark is leading the way for NYU, notching a one-under-par 71 on the day for sole control of fourth place individually. Starting on the back nine, Clark eagled hole 11 and followed with a birdie on hole 12 to put her in good position the rest of the way.
She stayed just about on par for most of the remaining holes, dropping to three-under with a birdie on hole five. However, a double bogey on her final hole of the day put her at 71, showing that, despite the finish, she's capable of staying well under par on this course.
Michelle Zhou is the other Violet among the top 10, sitting in a tie for ninth after shooting a one-over 73. The sophomore birdied two of her final six holes to earn strong positioning after the first round.
Summer Yang comes next on NYU's scorecard as she's tied for 49th with a score of 79.
Madison Phung (t-66th, 80) and
Nalinda Wanikpun (t-88th, 81) round out the Violets' lineup.
Two other UAA schools are first and second as a team with Emory topping the board (292) and WashU (297) just five strokes behind in second place. Methodist University is third (300) while NYU sits just one stroke ahead of seventh-place University of Redlands (304).
Tomorrow's second round tees off at 7:45 am down in Houston.
