Competing for the first time under new Head Coach
Ben Bratton, the New York University men's fencing team participated at the Temple University Open in Philadelphia, PA, on Sunday, October 30.
There was no team scoring at the event, where individual pool play in each weapon determines seeding for a single elimination competition.
Steven Grams advanced furthest for the Violets on Sunday. Competing in epee, he finished fifth overall after advancing to the Round of 8 in direct elimination. Teammate
Ian Adler took 10th in the weapon.
NYU also fared well in saber as four Violets had top-20 performances.
Brian Kim led the way, advancing to the Round of 8 and finishing seventh.
Darren Yen took ninth place,
Faaris Hussain was 12th and
Jamie Ren placed 17th.
In foil,
Andrew Sledeski and
Oliver Hu advanced to the Round of 16, placing 12th and 16th, respectively.
Farr Dickson was not far behind in 19th place.
The Violets' next competition will be at the Sacred Heart Invitational on Sunday, December 4, in Fairfield, CT.
