Women's Golf Completes Round 1 of Hamilton Invite

Violets in Fifth Place

New York University's Women's Golf Team completed Round 1 of the Hamilton College Invitational today at the Yahnundasis Golf Club in New Hartford, NY, after winning the St. Lawrence Invitational last weekend. The Violets are in fifth place after 18 holes of golf, shooting 319 on the day.

"We hung in there today after struggling around the greens," said Head Coach Katie Rudolph. "Tomorrow we need to focus on giving ourselves more chances and finding easier putts."

NYU is just six strokes behind the leaders, Williams College, and one stroke behind Middlebury and Hamilton who are tied for third. Charlotte Kwong (Hong Kong/Kent School) was the Violets' top performer, shooting 77 (four over par) which has her tied for third in the individual leaderboard.

Madison Phung (Frisco, TX/Lebanon Trail), who won Liberty League Performer of the Week and University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week honors this past week, shot 79 in Round 1 and is tied with teammate Camilla Chung (San Francisco, CA/St. Ignatian College Prep) for 10th individually. Arshia Mahant (New Delhi, India/Modern School Vasant Vihar) rounded out NYU's scoring with a score of 84 that has her tied for 28th after today's competition.

The Violets will look to move up the leaderboard in Round 2 tomorrow, teeing off at 9 am.
